Update! We've gone two years without a COLA increase, and now that there is an election coming up, they've decided to give a 3.6% raise to those of us on SS. How does that compare to the raises that Obama's CEO friends have given themselves?
And you thought your favorite political party was for the little guy! You see,- the lack of a cost of living increase has nothing to do with the true cost of living. They've already decided to use that money for bailouts for those businesses who " are too big to fail ", and to other big donors of political campaigns.

No. I don't mean that Social Security is going to be cut. It already has been cut, and is likely to be cut even further. The cost of living has risen by about 20 % or more,- and no cost of living increase has been given to those on Social Security, and pensions whose rates depend upon Social Security. THAT IS IN EFFECT A CUT! How are they getting away with it? To find out, you must read this whole page.
Not too long ago it was political suicide to talk about cutting, or privatizing Social Security. Lately, the politicians have been doing it almost every day. They have simply changed the name that they are calling it. They are now calling it an ENTITLEMENT. When you hear that the word, ENTITLEMENT, know that they are talking about cutting Social Security, Medicare, Disability benefits, and the other benefits, whose rates depend upon Social Security! It sounds great to talk about reducing those bad entitlements, until you realize that they are talking about cutting Social Security retirement and disability, etc. We have already paid for these benefits through the deductions made from our payroll checks, over a period of many years. The money was supposed to have been deposited in a very safe, interest-bearing account. And it was,- until the politicians began to raid that account to fund their pet projects. This has been going on since 1948, but it is much worse today. This has never been legally their money to play with. And, as the ads on TV say, it's our money, and we want it back now!
How did they get away with cutting out the cost of living increases that we should have got? I have contacted every politician that I can think of, and many of the news media people, and I can't even get them to discuss it! Here's how they got away with it: It's a scam thought up by one of the Washington DC bureaucrats, in our present administration. It's called " RENTAL EQUIVALENCE ".
This is how it works: Everyone knows that our economy has been bad for over a year. Housing cost is a major portion of the cost of living calculations. Housing values have decreased dramatically. But rental costs and mortgages have only decreased for new rentals or new mortgages. Has your rent gone down? Have your mortgage payments gone down? For the few who were fortunate enough to refinance, or enter into a new rental agreement, the payments may have decreased, but for most of us, our housing cost is the same. RENTAL EQUIVALENCE is a scheme, whereby they take into account, not the true housing cost data, but enters a monetary amount which is based upon " WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE RECEIVED, IF YOU HAD RENTED YOUR HOME, OR ENTERED INTO A NEW RENTAL AGREEMENT.".
That's how the millions on Social Security, Medicare, Social Security Disability, and the pensions, which depend upon the cost of living data, are being cheated, to the tune of billions of dollars. What are they doing with our money? They are making " bailouts " to big auto companies, and insurance companies, and spending millions on " studies " etc., which end up in the checks of CEO's, and others that are already millionaires. For years, the party in power has deceived people into thinking that they are for the common man, or the poor. Now, we see their true colors. They are rich, and have always favored the rich. How is it that the PERCENTAGE of income paid into Social Security and Medicare, is less for the rich people, than it is for those with lower incomes? That outrage has been going on for years, and the so called party of the common man isn't even talking about doing anything to correct it. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Why isn't the AARP screaming over this? Why is the news media, even Fox News, silent about this outrage? Because they are secretly in bed with the politicians!
What can we do? I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to vote against all the encumbents, whether they are republican or democrat, until they start representing the regular people, instead of the rich. I refuse to be swayed by all the flashy campaign ads. Those are mostly lies. They will say anything to get re-elected, so that they can waste more of our money on their pet projects. This will continue, until you and I stop voting for the rich lawyers, who make law after law that results in padding their pockets.
Do you really believe that the earth is warming? Come on, give me a break. The lies, of the so called experts, have already been exposed. Thats just one more of their scams, engineered with the help of a lying news media, to justify taking more of our money, to put it into pet projects,- or into their pockets. Even Joe Coleman, the man who founded the Weather Channel, has said it's all a scam!
